TEDxMelbourne 2016 – Adventurous Minds

If you spend your days trawling YouTube for new and interesting TED talks, then you’re in luck. For one special day, TED talks will be held in Melbourne and will be cantered around the idea of trailblazers and taking risks. The amazing lineup includes a spacecraft designer, a 14-year-old that has been to the North Pole and a bunch of other inspiring entrepreneurs and sector leaders. Convent Conversations: Food for Thought
August 11th
For an enlightening conversation about food and its origins, head along to Convent Conversations: Food for Thought. Held at Abbotsford Convent, a panel of experts will be discussing issues surrounding how food is produced and consumed in today’s world. They will also be questioning the sustainability and ethical consumption of food, food sovereignty and how to change eating habits.

STAND Against Racism
August 8th
AFRODOWNUNDER and Flemington and Kensington Community Legal Centre present STAND Against Racism, a fundraising event aimed at eliminating discrimination based on race and culture. The event will be held at Polepole Bar & Kitchen, with a $25 entry fee going to support the legal costs of discrimination cases. The evening will feature many forms of entertainment, including African poetry readings, musicians and addresses by prominent African figures within the legal community. More info here!


Art with heart: MS Art Exhibition
Opens August 8th
Support those living with multiple sclerosis and other conditions by viewing the 2016 MS Art Exhibition. More than 120 unique and interesting pieces of art will be on display and available for purchase, created by sufferers of serious neurological diseases. 80% of the profits will go directly to the artist and 20% will go towards funding support services for MS sufferers.
