Global March for Elephants and Rhinos – Sunday October 4th

Join hundreds of animal rights supporters for a peaceful protest in Melbourne’s CBD to raise awareness for elephant and rhino poaching. These beautiful creatures are in danger of becoming extinct within two decades and this march will be a show of support. If you’re against the targeting of elephants and rhinos for their tusks and horns respectively, head along to Swanston Street Forecourt at 10:30am. Participants are encouraged to bring along signs, banners and wear costumes. Donations and more information can be found here!

StepUP for Down Syndrome – Sunday October 11th

October is Down Syndrome Awareness month, a time when efforts to raise awareness and much needed funds for Down Syndrome research and support are ramped up. If you’d like to be involved, head along to Princess Park for a 3.4-kilometer family-friendly walk. There will be pit stops along the way and a sausage sizzle at the end. Recruit a team and help fundraise for this worthy cause. All registration details here!

Spring Fling Festival 2015 – Sunday October 18th

Supported by City of Melbourne in conjunction with not-for-profit The Centre, the Spring Fling Festival is back for another year to celebrate North and West Melbourne as creative communities. Located over Errol Street and Victoria Street, Spring Fling will have four ‘stages’ set up, which attendees can wander through. There will performances by local, up and coming musicians and diverse performers, a trash and treasure arts and crafts swap and a dog show, with the Lort Smith Animal Hospital also in attendance. Spring Fling promises to be an exciting day of local community events and fun. More information can be found here!

Fascinating Women Luncheon – Friday October 23rd

As the weather begins to warm up and spring racing season approaches, head along to the Fascinating Women Luncheon, a celebration of all things female. Get a group of girlfriends together, dress up and enjoy a two-course meal with drinks and a special presentation from domestic violence survivor and motivational entrepreneur Tessa Jetson. Prizes will be awarded for the best fascinator and all proceeds from the day will be going to Emerge, an organization aimed at providing freedom from domestic violence. Details and tickets here!

Evolve Yoga Festival – Sunday October 25th

Held at Abbotsford Convent, Evolve Yoga Festival will be a unique day encompassing all things meditation, yoga, dance, music and health. Aiming to inspire both beginner and experienced yogis, Evolve Yoga Festival will have a range of communal yoga sessions with traditional and upcoming yoga practices, as well as a marketplace with stalls selling yoga products, natural health and beauty products, clothing, merchandise and of course food and drinks.
